When our clients came to us initially, they wanted to remodel the existing deck and add some stairs. After we discussed some of the functional challenges of the current layout we decided to think outside of the box and come up with a much more functional package that created added privacy and space, while updating the style to better match the new refresh of the interior. By utilizing some of the yard’s existing infrastructure and eliminating some existing walls we were able to create a practical transition from upper deck to lower yard without sacrificing any seating space and without the use of extra posts under the deck and stairs. The custom railing sets this space off and highlights the incredible view that was always the highlight of the backyard. (pics by Alicia Hauff)
