When we’re starting with a cabin that is already stunning on its own, our job to create an outdoor space for family became much easier. Tucked on the North end of Hayden Lake, this modern retreat only needed a few additional amenities to make this the perfect weekend getaway. Working with a very creative owner, we had a great direction for the project that focused on making sure everything was functional, simple, and clean. We constructed a poured-in-place walkway that added texture with grass strips growing between the slabs and developed a modern planting scheme that fit in well with the natural setting. Having a functional lawn space for games and guests was also a must. We utilized a drought tolerant turf called Scottish Links The owners can now walk barefoot from lake to cabin and really feel at home. We incorporated a wood burning firepit away from the cabin, improved the driveway parking area and added night lighting to create ambiance after the sun goes down. (Photos by Patrick Martinez)
